These challenges threaten the integrity of the electoral process and the nation's stability. Recognising the critical need for proactive measures, Open Foundation West Africa (OFWA) is unwavering in its commitment to spearheading initiatives that promote peaceful and fair elections.
As Ghana approaches the 2024 general elections, fostering a climate of peace, tolerance, and respect among political parties, candidates, and voters is crucial. Historical trends, which indicate that tensions and conflicts can sometimes mar electoral periods in Ghana, underscore the urgent need for this advocacy campaign. OFWA is dedicated to promoting peace and social justice and proposes a comprehensive advocacy campaign to ensure peaceful elections in 2024.

On Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, we hosted media professionals, Wikipedia editors, and volunteers at our office space for a workshop themed âCombating Misinformation and Disinformationâ ahead of the 2024 general election.
The workshop focused on the effects of misinformation and disinformation, especially during the upcoming General Elections. It also entailed sessions from @codeforafrica__ and the @wikimediafoundation on how the work of media professionals and Wikipedia editors is essential to disseminating information about the general elections.
