Questionaire edit

Contributors edit

  • Wikimedia Statistics can be difficult to interpret. What is your impression, how many steady contributors do you have?
Varies. Five or six at the moment. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Are your contributors mostly native speakers?
There are no native speakers left, alas. We are their decendants. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Where do your contributors live (regions/country)?
East Coast USA and Britain, for the most part. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • How common is it that your contributors meet in real life?
Never. However some discuss things on an e-mail list (rarely about wiki things though). Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other Wikipedias edit

  • Do you have special contacts with another Wikipedias (maybe in related languages)?
No, but all repeat contributors are native speakers of Modern English and some have contributed to that Wikipedia. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do you translate a lot from other Wikipedias? Which ones?
There is a good deal of translation from the Modern English Wikipedia. I have referred to other language Wikipedias but not translated any full article. Whether others have I do not know. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Organization and support edit

  • Is there a Wikimedia chapter in your country? How does your language relate to it?
  • Are there work groups in other organizations about Wikipedia?

Your Wikipedia and the linguistic community edit

  • Is there a language institution for your language, like an Academy, or a club of people interested in your language? Do you have contact with them?
There are many clubs and academic department and resources to which various refer. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Who (else) supports you?

Is that not enough?! Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • How looks your public outreach for your edition? Do you have flyers, give lectures, trainings etc.?
No, at least not that I have seen. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do you get feedback from readers?
There are often appreciative messages left on the Hēafodsīde Mōtung sīde. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • What other encyclopedias exist in your language?
I have not looked. I have never contributed to one at least. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Content edit

  • Does your edition concentrate on certain topics, like your region and language, or Latin Wikipedia on Roman history and Christianity?
No; it is a general source. Different contributors have their own favourite fields of course. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Did your edition enjoy text donations, for example from older encyclopedias?
No, but there are plenty of original texts which have fed into articles. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Language edit

  • Is there a generally accepted norm about your language (spelling, dictionary, pronunciation)?
No. We are now trying to come to agree certain standards, but the language is not squeezed into fixed spellings. Proinunciation is pretty much agreed (regional dialets excepted) but that is not relevant to a text-only enclyclopædia. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • How do you deal with different spellings, dialects etc. (like B.E. lift and A.E. elevator)?
By being liberal, within limits. Hogweard 15:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
