edit

For Islington College (June-July-August) - 2013

Meeting Update & Follow-through:

Today (May 23, 2013) we (Wikimedia Nepal Team) met with the 1.) Management team and 2.) FOSS community of the Islington College for around 3 hours. After detailed delebration, we came to following detailed planning for implementing the Wikipedia Education Program (WEP) at the Islington College here in Nepal in the month of June-July-August, 2013. Thanks to all the participating team members and the Islington College team. As per issues raised in our discussion, we came to following modalities.

  1. The hands on session in the lab has to be carried out twice a week (Monday and Thursday for 2 hours each every week)
  2. To retain the final 25 participants we will have to go through an extra pre-round of orientation / registration/selection-filtering round of process. The first orientation would include 150+ participants mostly from Year-1 students on June 9th, 2013.
  3. Firstly, we will register 50 students/participants. Who will go for three-day special session on Open Content, Wiki Edits, and wiki article improvments, we would select the most prominent 25 participants for the complete training program which would also include some faculties.
  4. All the trainees (participants) who accomplish the course, would be awarded a certificate of accomplishion on behalf / signed by the Wikimedia Nepal and Islington College. This will be termed as "Wikipedia Driving License (WDL) ". This will be in two forms" 1.) PVC ID card and 2.) Paper Certificate Letter. The tentative amount for these certificate and ID card would be worked out and collected from participants while they register for the WEP. The tentative cost would be approx NRs 100/- only.
  5. We also talked about collaborating for Wikipedia Loves Monument (WLM) orientation program which will be carried out in July end (after Saroj is back from US) along with other academicians and photo-journalist. The program would be launched in August and completed in Sepetember.
  6. After the accomplishment of the WLM this year, we are planning to have Wikipedia Loves Jatras (WLL) in Nepal. "Bhaye Bhar ko Jatra Wikipedia ma!" (All Jatra's of Nepal in Wikipedia). This could be a program that we can pilot run for a year or so to extent more content generation from the ground. How about Lanching it on Software Freedom Day Celebration 2013 in Sepetember 21, 2013 (Saturday) We have lots of ideas to share when we meet next :D.
  7. ANY topic that I missed? Please include / update......

The detail plan we worked out later is listed below. These are almost final schedule regarding the dates. We have committed for ATLEAST TWO (peers) resoruce person from our Wikimedia Nepal team for each session. Also, apart from these two resource persons (peers), Prakash and myself (Hempal Shrestha) will be acting as linker and connector for each sessions during the entire course of WEP at Islington College.

Though the table below have some specified names in the the lead contact / Resource person, other Wikipedian's are most welcome to take-up this space as lead / resource person or other roles and take on their roles and they find themselves 1.) Available (on these dates), and 2.) Comfortable in accordance with meeting the learning objectives from each week's topic objective. Hence, you are more than welcome to choose the session you would be available/interested in to take up.

Dear team (Saroj ji, Krish ji, Ravi ji, Monil, Prakash ji) , please suggest if I missed to report back anything from the meeting in this document. Other team members please chip in your ideas as well what we have outlined in this meeting. I would be happy to clarify anything that needs some clarification or description as necessary. -- Hempal Shrestha (talk) 00:38, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
