Bizarre

edit
Tracked in Phabricator:
Task T316349

What a totally weird way of managing email subscriptions - it's almost as silly as putting all recipients in the CC field. Why not put an option in Special:Preferences or something? --Pontificalibus (talk) 09:36, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

And evidently it’s not working. I’ve now received two emails although my username has been on this list for years. Ponydepression (talk) 10:38, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi younger me. Another one today. Ponydepression (talk) 01:26, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
And today. My username has been on this list since 2013 Ponydepression (talk) 18:46, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree a switch in Special:Preferences (now we even have Global Preferences) would be desired. I'll make a Phabricator report. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:19, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not working

edit

I'm on the list and still got an email from ucocproject@wikimedia.org today Vicarage (talk) 22:51, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Just wow. Tuvalkin (talk) 23:01, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'm getting spam too, despite being on the list. Not impressed. Voice of Clam (talk) 18:42, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
First, I am also receiving the email, despite being on the list. Second, why do I have to enlist for not to be spammed?--Wickey (talk) 21:10, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Me too. --MagnusA (talk) 17:19, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MagnusA: Hello, when did you receive the email? Thanks. SCP-2000 17:49, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
The same day I posted my reply above, September 14th. It was about the elections. I added myself years ago. https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikimedia_Foundation_nomail_list&diff=prev&oldid=21909942
I am not active on Wikipedia anymore (about 10 years ago I was), and has never been active on meta level. MagnusA (talk) 12:18, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ridiculous

edit

This is completely ridiculous. Can we please have a proper way to unsubscribe? Fchagas97 (talk) 21:50, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Fchagas97: Hello, why do you think 'This is completely ridiculous' and do you have any suggestions about it? Thanks. SCP-2000 03:46, 7 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think:
  1. Email subscriptions should be managed by checkboxes in User preferences
  2. It should be an opt-in system
  3. The unsubscribe link in the emails would automatically remove you from the list without having to edit a page (like almost all other unsubscribe links in emails)

@Samuel Wiki: There is a relevant ticket fyi phab:T316349. SCP-2000 04:59, 7 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
4. It should NOT be possible to subscribe or unsubscribe someone else! 伟思礼 (talk) 22:00, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Don't let other users wipe out or even see...

edit

There's a 50% chance that in the process of adding my name, I will wipe out several other people's names, due to shaky hands.

Therefore please make a more secure system.

Indeed away from prying eyes, who get a free list of accounts to target for fake voting, because their owners are not aware of the election. Jidanni (talk) 13:26, 7 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

And then there's the ridiculous privilege given to ANYONE of adding or removing someone else without their permission! 伟思礼 (talk) 21:57, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. My username appears to be already on this list but I got an email today. What else can I do? Kire1975 (talk) 22:22, 7 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Kire1975: Hello, it is a known issue. If you still receive the email, you may leave a note here for reference. Thanks. SCP-2000 14:35, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
