I still believe strongly we can achieve $0 hardware costs if we try. There are better things to spend money on, things not produced by companies with reasons to love us. Reasons for not trying to achieve such a goal - and direct requests for hardware, as our top cost -- would also be good fundraiser motivation. "Buy us two opterons! (specs) (place in the ideal server cluster)" can be a very compelling christmas-eve request, and motivation to cough up $40k. Sj
