Steering committee options edit

Structured board edit

Elect steering committee, which consists of the following

    • President/Head of steering committee
    • Vice President
    • Treasurer
    • Secretary
    • Community liaison
    • 5 non-ranking members

Two tier system edit

Transition council:

The purpose of the transition council is to facilitate the transition into an AffCom approved organization. It will:
  • Draft an official charter under which we will eventually incorporate
  • Investigate the AffCom requirements for chapter formation and prepare a short, easy to read report on what they are and how close WMNE is to meeting them
  • Investigate the legal requirements for non-profit organization formation and prepare a short, easy to read report on what they are and how close WMNE is to meeting them
  • Move WMNE towards compliance with AffCom and legal requirements
  • File the necessary paperwork with the necessary parties to official incorporate (pending a final vote on the matter by WMNE)

Leadership council:

The leadership council is a smaller group that both keeps the transition council going forward, and keeps the community momentum going by leading events (like edit-a-thons, WLM, WLL, etc.). Members of the leadership council are, simply put, members of the transition council that are signing up for a more active role.

Neither the Leadership council nor the Transition council would have ranks (president, vice president, etc.), they would both be filled by people at the meeting that signed on to being on one of the two bodies. The Transition council could be as large as needed to accommodate interested parties, while the Leadership council would be about five or seven people.
