Value of translating edit

Is this a standard message, that will be sent every two years, so that it makes sense to translate it even after it had been sent? Or will it be rewritten every two years, so all translation efforts now are just wasted? Grüße vom Sänger ♫(Reden) 15:38, 20 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Sänger: There are elements of the message that were partially recycled from past message and will be reused in future messages, and because of how the Translation system works, entering it now will save translators time later. Additionally, messages of this nature will continue to get attention by people interested in the election for the duration of the election - so it has an active value until at least this election cycle is both finished and the discussion by community around it is concluded. As one example, people are still finding it on village pumps for first time and coming here to read a translated version (if available) - and from my experience, that will continue for at least a couple more weeks. When it is no longer of value, it will be marked as such in the translation system and not actively displayed via translation groups (which are what many translators use to translate content). --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 16:21, 20 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
