Name
- See also Affiliates naming guidelines.
Proposals are welcome from 16 to 29 October. The nomination period will extend if no one submits their proposal. No voting if there's only a proposal. We will choose our name on a simple plurality voting basis if there are two proposals, or on an exhaustive voting basis if there are more than two proposals. Explanations are optional.

The nomination phase ended on 30 October. During the period we received three eligible proposals. Thus we will decide on our logo on a two-round voting basis. If there's a proposal with two-thirds majority support, then the name proposed in it would become our name. Otherwise, two proposals with higher votes would proceed to the next round and we will choose between them on a simple majority voting basis.
Voting
Voting began from today to 8 November, Wednesday. Only those who signed their name on the user group's page on Meta are eligible to vote. Eligible voters can vote for one proposal. If there's a proposal with two-thirds majority support, then the name proposed in it would become our name. Otherwise, two proposals with higher votes would proceed to the next round and we will choose between them on a simple majority voting basis.

- I prefer the English name "Wikimedia User Group Hong Kong" which is in proposals 1 and 2. I am not a native Chinese speaker and I do not have an opinion on the Chinese name. Since the English name and Chinese name are oftentimes wholly separate things (As I've noticed being an expat in China), IMO I think there should be two vote counts, one for the Chinese name and one for the English name. WhisperToMe (talk) 16:38, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Though as mentioned above you can vote for one proposal, we will take your opinion into consideration when concluding this round of voting. Spring Roll Conan ( Teahouse | Contributions ) 11:32, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- Proposal 1. 1 and 2 are similar and I only have slight preference of 1 over 2, but 3 sounds too clumsy.--ネイ (talk) 03:00, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
- Proposal 1.--Manchiu (talk) 12:41, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Result
This polling received 8 eligible votes. Proposal 1 got 8 votes (100%). Proposal 2 and 3 got 0 votes. Proposal 1 passed. --J.Wong 06:47, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

1 | Slight alteration of the logo of Wikimedia Hong Kong per discussions during our last meet-up: adding "User Group" between "Wikimedia" and "Hong Kong." Subject to further alterations if we choose a different name. --Spring Roll Conan ( Teahouse | Contributions ) 11:42, 20 October 2017 (UTC) | |
2 | Similar to Proposal No. 1, but have the logo of the Wikimedia Foundation replaced by the logo of the Wikimedia Community. Subject to further alterations if we choose a different name. --Spring Roll Conan ( Teahouse | Contributions ) 11:42, 20 October 2017 (UTC) |

- Proposal 1. --Richard923888 (talk) 15:48, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- I abstain, as I have no preference.--1233 | Questions?| This message is left by him at 16:21, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

- Proposal 1 WhisperToMe (talk) 16:53, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Proposal 2 --Manchiu (talk) 16:58, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Abstain.--ネイ (talk) 03:00, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
- I support proposal 2 as more user groups use it. It seems chapters would choose proposal 1, and we are still not yet a chapter. --Temp3600 (talk) 14:52, 7 November 2017 (UTC) [✖ not eligible—Please sign your name on the user group's page on Meta before voting.]
Conclusion
8 legible Votes with 3 votes abstain seen. With 5 votes having its preference, 3 Users support Proposal 1 and 2 Users support proposal 2.
Proposal 1 : Proposal 2 : 60.00%:40.00%
Thus, Proposal 1 would be the logo of the WUGHK.--1233 | Questions?| This message is left by him at 06:35, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
