New editors edit

For the list of topics I would suggest "Help for new editors" (Mentoring?) if it is not covered by another topic. The goal of this separate topic will be to collect information how can we help and retain new users, increase their number and avoid decrease in activity. What drives newcomers to write or improve articles in Wikipedia? What prevents people starting or what makes them quit? Do they need more help and advice at the beginning and what kind of help exactly will do fine? More friendly greetings, incubation period and test articles, step by step (visual) editing guidance, or something else? Please ignore this if the goal is already included in another topic. --Vodnokon4e (talk) 03:40, 14 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Vodnokon4e:, sorry for not writing earlier (although you might have seen me editing the adjacent page). I think that "Help for new editors" fits in the broad topic of "Volunteer support" and the aspect of newcomers is in the "Volunteer recruiting" (to some extent both overlap). More friendly greetings, etc seems also to fit in the "Community health" topic. So, yeah, I think your proposal is there, maybe formulated in a bit more broader way, but it definitely fits. So, if you are interested in giving a specific talk about these topics, it defintiely will have a slot to go to, and depending on how you precisely formulate your topic it woould belong to one of these. Hope this helps! :) Spiritia 07:17, 19 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
