@Nirmal Dulal: thank you (and your team) for this proposal - it is very thoughtful! I have some questions about it:

  • As are aware, the e-scholarship program is not intended to 'replace' volunteer editing. Can you explain how this project is quantitatively or qualitatively more/harder than your volunteer activities?
  • The purpose of WikiCite is top build "open citations and linked bibliographic data". I understand that the improvement of structured-data in Nepalese about Nepali animals and plants will help the world to access that knowledge - a worthy goal! But can you describe how the that task fits within the scope of WikiCite specifically?

Thank you Liam for your response, here are answers for your query:
  • Well, the said list of the animals, birds, plants, flowers and reptiles are subject to research. There are very few books, research papers available on public domain which cover the Nepali name of the subjects at once. We need to contact the authorities, researchers, and botanologist to find the proper Nepali name of the species. We have already placed an application to BCN and MOFE, Nepal to provide their undisclosed books which are not available online on public domain.
  • As you know, we are trying to develop a list with reliable references, which is later going to help the Wikipedia contributors to create an article related to the above subject. As per my knowledge and over the years of experience, I think this is more than a reference (open citation) which will definitely be worthy for the Nepali community in coming years.
