Logo
editAs per consensus, the event will be titled WikiConference India. We now need a special Logo for the event. This logo will be used not only this year, but annually for the national conference. Community members are requested to come up with designs and post them hereunder latest by 1PM, Monday 27 June 2011. Thereafter we will have a 48 hour window for the other community members to vote for the design they like. **Kindly note, we expect the designers to assign unconditionally all rights to the logo design to Wikimedia Chapter (India) under whose jurisdiction this conference comes without any remuneration or other considerations. You will be recognised as the designer of the logo.**
When designing the Logo do keep in mind:
- The Wikipedia Logo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia-logo-v2.svg
- The Wikimedia Logo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimedia_Foundation_RGB_logo_with_text.svg
- The Wikimania Logo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimania.svg
Please post your designs under this line by replacing "Design [Number]" with "Design by [Your Username]" and posting your design below that sub-title.
No more entries please, kindly vote for the design you like by 2.30PM on 29 June 2011

- Looked cute to me. couple of suggestions for improvement. Use India National Flag colors. Suggest abbreviating the conf to WikiConf, as too much text may make it unreadaable from a distance and not attractive. Arjunaraoc 16:42, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- I like this, specially if the colors were in Indian Tricolors Mokshjuneja 21:23, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Relatively better than other two logos, however looking forward for more designs (Was planning to make one by my own) EnSYS

- Could this be done with the left face in saffron, circle with blue edge and white fill and right face with green? AshLin 18:26, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- @AshLin > Tried it but doesn't work as well IMHO. Nevertheless, am asking Shekhar to upload it so you can judge. Arvind Lodaya, 08:46, 27 June 2011 (IST)
- Arvind sent me this new variation WikiConfIndia 5 , but I believe it is of Design Five, not Design Eight. Shekhar Krishnan 17:39, 27 June 2011 (IST)
- @AshLin and Shekhar, I updated it, the tricolour version is where it should be! Arvind Lodaya, 18:10, 27 June 2011 (IST)
- Thanks, it looks nice but the one I voted for seems classier. AshLin 16:41, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

edit- Dont know how it will work - maybe changing the background to black and the black to white may look better. AroundTheGlobe 06:02, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- The design is interesting...has a 'desi' flavour but the 'WikiConference india" text is a distracting font. Would be more effective if the text was in some simple bold non serif font like in the logos on http://www.wikimedia.org/. Also the text in one straight line so it anchors the design on some base line. If the whole logo has 2 by 3 (2 height by 3 breadth) proportion will suit most publication options including TV.
- Just to inform you, the Indian tricolour has Navy Blue in the chakra, not black, you may like to replace the colour. AshLin 16:54, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- @AroundTheGlobe: I think not, this would work fine in terms of colour. @#2: Can look at other fonts, and also arranging name in a single straight line and 2x3 proportion (I was mainly looking at webpage layout fitting). @AshLin: I tried blue but it suddenly dilutes the visual impact of the logo. I can show you with blue, but IMHO black is the most striking option. ~Arvind
