Talk:Universal Code of Conduct/Training/Module 1: Orientation (UCoC - General)

Share your thoughts on the draft UCoC training materials.

The UCoC’s Enforcement Guidelines (EG) recommends the development of training modules to provide a common understanding of the UCoC, and we're seeking your insights, feedback, and suggestions. Your perspectives are invaluable as we strive to ensure these training modules comprehensively address the needs and expectations of our global community.

How can you help?

  • Do you have general thoughts, comments, suggestions, questions?
  • Is there anything unclear or could be phrased differently?
  • Could a word, a sentence or paragraph be changed to make the text more translatable?
  • Do you have any ideas for making the modules more interactive?

We look forward to your input! :) MFischer (WMF) (talk) 16:53, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Feedback: How can you report a UCoC violation?

edit

I expect this would be something readers will be rather interested in, however training people that this is "coming soon" isn't very useful. Baring a new system, a collection of links (perhaps even to a wikidata item that collects them) to existing reporting processes would be more helpful then leaving the reader lost. — xaosflux Talk 12:56, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Module 2 seems to try to address this, but I'd expect any reader to already be lost and give up as Module 1 is a dead end here. — xaosflux Talk 12:59, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you kindly for your feedback @Xaosflux. I understand and agree with your concern. We can do that, until the system is in place. MFischer (WMF) (talk) 10:17, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

How must we give feedback ?

edit

Hello @MFischer (WMF), Thanks for asking feedback for the training modules, but can you please explain how you want to go further ? Here these are skeletons of training material and the material is not completed. Do you want to build a working group or do you write it all and we comment ? I believe at this stage, the modules are really early drafts. What you can fix : type of public, duration of the presentation (this should not be an autonomous selflearning program but and interactive presentation with someone from the U4C who can answer to the questions). How many exercices ? Autonomous evaluation by a quiz or so ? Etc... It's not enough to paraphrase the Code. Waltercolor (talk) 14:34, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for @Waltercolor. As you note, these are very early drafts. The idea is to have a loose working group of community members to work on this together. Moving forward it would be great to get your insight on whether there are parts that are unclear, help make the text as simple as possible for wider reach and easier translation and share ideas on exercises and interactivity.
The final version will be placed on Learn.Wiki - an online learning management platform for the Wikimedia movement that supports video, graphics, interactivity and is overall a platform built for online learning resources. Please see the existing courses to get an idea. MFischer (WMF) (talk) 10:19, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
