Hi @Reem Al-Kashif and African Hope:! Thanks for volunteering to translate the training. I am really excited to have it represented in multiple languages, in larger language communities. I have marked up the index page and the slides within the training for translation. Let me know if I can clarify any questions or you run into any challenges.
Here are some thoughts on how you do the translation (note I have not done extensive translation before, so please let me know if this advice is wrong):
- There are bits and pieces of advice written from the perspective of English Wikipedia, and links to advice pages on English Wikipedia. Please feel free to change the links and advice to be appropriate for your language community/context.
- A few of the slides may be complex, or might be hard to translate: if you find a complicated slide, this might be an indicator that the slides is not accessible and needs to be simplified: please consider pinging me here or on the talk page of the slides, and we can try to make improvements to those slides.
- Similarly if you think a piece of advice is not appropriate for your context, please ping me, and lets talk about it.
- As for page titles, please don't translate/change them: the Programs and Events Dashboard needs the titles of the slides to be formatted in a particular way to work.

Editathon vs. edit-a-thon Edit
These two spellings are used throughout. However, for the benefit of consistency, can one be selected and we make the rest follow that? While I have seen both spellings and uses in different places, internal consistency may benefit from either having the same usage included OR acknowledging that they will be used interchangeably. I personally prefer it without the hyphens, but this discussion, at least here, should focus on this training. FULBERT (talk) 20:40, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Minor Tweaks Edit
I have been making minor tweaks (punctuation, etc.) as I am reading and learning through this, though do not see my changes reflected on the main page. Should I continue making these tweaks, or did I misunderstand / do something incorrectly? Thanks. FULBERT (talk) 19:54, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- @FULBERT: As you make the changes, the changes have to both a) be marked for translation and b) updated on the dashboard itself. I have been reviewing the changes so far, and find them useful, but haven't had the opportunity and take the final two steps. I will do it at the beginning of next week. Objectives at the beginning Edit
As I continue to read and edit, I noticed that the [objectives for Module 1] were listed at the end of the session, like a review, but were not mentioned at the beginning. Should they also be added there as good educational practice to alert the learner as to what he or she may expect? End of Module 2 Edit
At the end of Module 2, it suggests people go to the GLAM-Wiki portal. Is this training oriented primarily to that audience, or should the reference for more information be restated and expanded to be a bit broader? FULBERT (talk) 20:46, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
