this page seems very informative. thanks for this data. just one question; are all of these folks employees of wiklimedia? if not, how were they chosen? just curious. thanks. --Sm8900 (talk) 02:24, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

The core team are employee of WMDE, the rest are volunteers. It started with a request for people interested to be part. The core team then selected from those who shown interest. The selection criteria was to get people from different parts of the movement, especially from parts that often not heard, like evolving projects and affiliates from Africa. The strategy core team, made up of WMF employees (two are listed as WMDE employees), created a shortlist of 91 people (from 172) to be part of the working groups. The steering committee then chose 88 of those 91 people to be part of the working groups. So, technically, the WMF didn't choose the members of the working groups, but it directly rejected 47% of applicants, then had another committee accept 97% of the remainder. At the time of selection the core team was smaller, Nicole from WMDE and Karel from Wikimedia Esti. Yger (talk) 14:56, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't see any evidence of that, but let's assume that it's correct. Who chose those two people? EddieHugh (talk) 10:17, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I am not sure I fully understand your question, but you can follow the early developments in the process via our updates on Wikimedia-l, which are all listed in this overview; especially the first couple of updates also speak about the team members.
