Possibility of canvassing edit

Users with no prior edits at Meta are showing up to cast a vote. As an experienced user at fawiki who is familiar with the old dirty tricks of that project, I ask the stewards and the election committee to be extremely cautious with the votes of these users. This confirmation might have been subject to offwiki canvassing. 4nn1l2 (talk) 04:52, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

The steward elections are being broadly advertised on other projects outside of Meta, e.g. at w:en:Template:Centralized discussion. I'm not saying there isn't canvassing, just wanted to point this out. Mz7 (talk) 05:54, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Steward elections are currently advertised on all Wikimedia projects thanks to the active CentralNotice. ~riley (talk) 06:07, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
No canvassing, the Central Banner says it all (like go vote in SE). In addition, SE are open for all users, whether they have / have not meta experience, just like meta RFA is. Having said that, the electcom should know what to do, rest assured, and I am sure Mardetanha will rescue with relevant electcom discussions. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 07:16, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've not checked what the votes are, I just what to point out that "Users with no prior edits at Meta" are very welcome in discussions on Meta. Meta is not a space for Meta regulars, it's a space for users of all Wikimedia projects to coordinate and help all Wikimedia projects. Nemo 14:53, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Guys, I can see the Central Banner! You are either optimistic or naive :) 4nn1l2 (talk) 06:55, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I choose to assume no canvassing unless otherwise proven true. Anyway community feedback doesn't determine the stay/leave of a stew, is stew's discussion that counts. So lets trust the stews to make a good decision and in the end, electcom will wrap the stews discussion well? :)--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 07:13, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
There isn't even a policy against canvassing in Meta, as far as I know, and for good reasons. (It's nearly impossible to determine what would be appropriate notifications for such a varied and dispersed community.) The electcom will need to use common sense and more general policies in addition to their specific mandate towards the stewards policy. Nemo 11:28, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@User:Arash.pt: Time is running out so I'll answer here. please say those very bad insults so that those who don't understand Farsi also understand. I've been shut down 3 times in the last month, twice by yourself and once by the infamous Iranian government proxy Behzad39, your partner so, nice move too :) How does this deal with Mardetanha and revenge vote story?! Paranoia, as well as numerous domestic complaints cases, has seriously affected your ability to judge and determine your position. Of course, I am proud that I put my safety at serious risk to protect the encyclopedia against the desires of the Islamic regime's intelligence and terrorist services and their affiliated users but I am not a steward. As far as I know, some families of victims of recent events in Iran are planning to file a complaint to persuade the Wikimedia Foundation in Canada and United States to pursue a systematic misleading intervention by regime agents to defame their opponents (including the November killed: Nikta Esfandani, en:Pouya Bakhtiari, 34-year-old woman killed under the torture Halimeh Samiri and more)

Mohsen is a good man, committed and steadfast with a flame of WMF inside him, A potential wikimedian role model. Its very unfortunate that he would ruin his reputation by aligning himself with untruthful and abusive humans and unwittingly accepting their bad performance consequences. He's know better than anyone about lran realistic situation. AnuJuno (talk) 17:12, 28 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
