Status?

What is the status of this? Is it going to be scheduled sometime this year? Should we propose to users to wait for it instead of requesting renames in every wiki? -Geraki TL 07:21, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

I have no idea, but maybe Jdforrester knows. @Geraki: could you please update your sig by removing "http:"? It will work on HTTPS if you do so. PiRSquared17 (talk) 01:27, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Done, thanks for the note. --Geraki TL 08:43, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
You could also use the shorter variant Special:Log/Geraki. --Stefan2 (talk) 16:13, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Some content was recently added to mw:Wikimedia MediaWiki Core Team/Quarterly review, January 2014#SUL finalisation by User:DGarry (WMF). The section doesn't say much, though. --Stefan2 (talk) 16:13, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Update

SUL finalization is back in progress; I hope to have it finished by Spring '15. Engineering is finishing up by the end of September to provide users, Stewards, and renamers with the proper forms and tools. After that messaging will commence to all accounts that will be affected by this change. Overall this is a community-driven process, I'm here to help facilitate between the communities, Stewards, and WMF engineering to make sure we get this done properly and timely. Dan Garry is the product manager for this and he is posting monthly updates on Mediawiki. Keegan (WMF) (talk) 19:12, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Keegan's optimism aside, please bear in mind that we don't have a confirmed date for the finalisation yet. Spring 2015 seems sensible, but I am not ready to promise this yet. :-) --Dan Garry, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 23:02, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
"I hope" were the two key words ;) Keegan (WMF) (talk) 23:18, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
