What type of tools? edit
Maybe I can help in this initiative, I am not certain because I don't know what type of tools we are talking about. "Cross-wiki tools" can be a lot of different things, and even if we want to explore all possibilities we still need something more specific to prioritize at the beginning. I read the recomendation page and the cluster B page and its talk page but it is still not clear to me what type of tool we need to develop. It's exactly for this kind of research that the Movement Strategy Implementation Grants are made, so you can, if you wish, apply to that or let someone you know apply.
- As for your first question: While the answer is significantly dependent on the work that is yet to be done, there are some ongoing proposals regarding it. I'm personally aware of the Global templates project (Amire80 wrote an essay about it, for which there is a summary here). Although there are plenty of discussions or ideas about global templates, none of them are being centrally-implemented. Whether there are other kinds of cross-wiki tools that we need remains up to the missing research.

Sister projects links are being hinding edit
Hello. Recently the Desktop Improvements team has decided to disconnect cross-project links (the sister projects links in the left menu) for non logged in users. I have been mentioning them that this goes against the Movement Strategy recommendations, but they have followed with the idea. Now, in French Wikipedias, and soon in all other Wikimedia projects, interwiki links will be obscured if you don't click in the menu and try to find them.
They argue that hiding these links is not what it was mentioned when we talked about "cross-wiki tools". And it makes some sense: we are not going to talk about something that exists, because it already exists. But hiding it goes against the idea behind this recommendation. What do you think?
