Talk:Meetup/Brighton/1
Location
editThe West Quay pub has been selected as Wetherspoons seem to be popular with Wiki people due to the cheap beer and food. It also has a pleasant location. On the other hand, it is some distance from the town and a more central location may be preferable for this or future events. Please make suggestions. Philafrenzy (talk) 01:16, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Best way of getting to the Marina is by the #7 bus (Brighton & Hove Bus Company). This runs approximately every 10 minutes on Sundays from central Hove via Hove and Brighton railway stations and various points in the city centre. Many other bus routes run past the top of the Marina on the coast road. Hassocks5489 (talk) 08:02, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
- As suggested above. One very large and very central pub which is well suited to groups of people meeting for a particular purpose is the King and Queen close to Old Steine. There is an extensive upstairs bit which can be hired, possibly even for free (?). Two centrally located Wetherspoons venues with wifi are the Brighthelm on West Street and the Post and Telegraph on North Street. Hassocks5489 (talk) 11:17, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
- I think we should keep the location the same for the first one now it has been announced and take soundings on the day about possibly moving. Philafrenzy (talk) 00:05, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- Will car parking be more of a problem in the city centre? Maybe not out of the summer season.--Charlesdrakew (talk) 09:40, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Apologies
editI would love to come but have a prior engagement at a tea dance. Foxtrot ladies?--Charlesdrakew (talk) 09:40, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
Question
edit- Can I enquire if animals are welcome, I would like to attend but I have to look after a male goat and a breeding pair of barn owls over that weekend and would not like to have to remain outside with them especially if the weather is bad. Horatio Snickers (talk) 14:03, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- You will need to check with the pub management but I will be bringing my pet Zebra. Philafrenzy (talk) 15:07, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, I have just called the pub (their number is 01273 645780, and they were very friendly). They are ok with the goat but I will have to leave the owls with a friend. How long do you advise I stay for? If you are being serious about the zebra, I don't think they would be comfortable with such a large animal but it's certainly worth giving them a call. I look forward to meeting you all there! Horatio Snickers (talk) 16:30, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- The meetings are open-ended and unstructured. You can stay for as long as you like but most end by 5.00 or 6.00. I will need to leave by then to get home to feed the lion and the tiger. Philafrenzy (talk) 16:48, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Again, if you are serious I would very much like to hear more. I have not been aware of any collections, private or otherwise, of such large animals in the Sussex area. I do not usually travel with my animals but keep over 30 goats and 8 owls and have done for several years. Horatio Snickers (talk) 17:05, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Certainly I am serious, but I can tell you, it's not easy keeping a Lion, a Tiger and a Zebra in a one bedroom flat on the third floor. The mucking out is a nightmare. See you in Brighton. Philafrenzy (talk) 19:50, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Brighton 2?
edit@Charlesdrakew, Philafrenzy, KTC, Thryduulf, Geni, Epayne, Hassocks5489, Horatio Snickers, and Redrose64: Having just moved to West Sussex, I was wondering if there was any interest in another meetup in Brighton or anywhere else in the vicinity? Please excuse the ping if you're not interested. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:24, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
