I wonder if there's a Web Literacy aspect to a lot of this. Doug Belshaw of Mozilla is the lead on there project so that might be of interest in terms of UX and local/national govt cpd skilling. Graeme Arnott (talk) 19:47, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

I would recommend that we start with one solid speaker and tutorial from each group, and slowly allocate the spaces out. We have approximately 10 (30min) spaces on Thursday for big names, Friday we have 20 (30min - 45 people) conference room spaces of which we need to allocate about 5 for (unconference) attendee's--Centralamerica (talk) 10:32, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

We have potentially approximately 20 speakers/subjects/teachers that we bring in we have approximately 200 delegates/speakers/subjects/teachers it is important to leverage this resource. Hangout #1 - Notes on discussion (BK, GA, EK, Thurs 13th Feb)

We decided that we don't need BO for Friday. We will ask Glasgow Uni to try to book Atrium for the whole day on Thursday. We will release booking on WA for Thursday.

Constituencies who get to select / recommend Day 1 speakers:

What is the overall theme of the day, how to do we ensure some kind of coherence? BK: There is an awareness of the utility of data for citizens. But they don't know how it will affect them. Popularising data.

• Building the ‘demand side’ of open data
• Combining open data with crowd-sourced data
• Widening participation in Wikipedia and engaging with the interests of communities as well as highly motivated individuals

Facilities

The Atrium will be available all day. We encourage our speakers if present to go to the Atrium after their talk for the next 30 minutes to extend chat with those interesred in greater depth. The speakers that they miss will be recorded

Topics for Workshops

Workshop structure: pick a topic and a coordinator, and let them choose speakers. Try to make the workshops interactive, not just a bunch of talks. Are these different from DIWO sessions?

DIWO sessions are intended to be more participatory, open ended, and learning from each other. Sharing knowledge, experience and problems.

Topics / Speakers for Lightning Talk (5 min) or Pecha Kucha (20 slide) Sessions

Most people don't actually have enough interesting content or charisma to talk for more than about 10 minutes. These sessions place very strict limits on each speaker. Each session should be thematically coherent, and allow time for discussion and mixing. Eg. [4 * 5 min talks + 10 mins break], repeated two or three times. This would be an opportunity to give a platform to a wide variety of people, including students.

Datafest Scotland: plans?

Hi all - hadn't heard much about this for a while now and I've been getting some questions about it from Wikimedia UK's end as they are ramping up for Wikimania 2014 in London next month. We're having a meetup in Glasgow on 26 July at the Saramago Cafe in the CCA (details here) and I thought it would be great if some of the organisers were able to come along and chat about where things stand? Would be ideal to tie in with Wikimania 2014 and EduWiki 2014, which is being held in Edinburgh on 31 October, if possible. Perhaps Wikimedia would have some ideas for support if that's been an issue? ACrockford (talk) 13:50, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
