Talk:Community Wishlist/Wishes/Improve reFill, make it work with PDFs

This should probably be refocused more generally as "improve automatic citation tools" or "improve Citoid" (Citoid is the backend most of these tools rely on). * Pppery * it has begun 20:33, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks @Pppery for this feedback. @Trigenibinion, this wish is both too broad and too specific, in asking to "Improve ReFill" and "make it open in a separate browser tab."
Could you add more specifications regarding the challenges you face, and the problems you encounter? From there, we can start to evaluate what a viable solution may look like. JWheeler-WMF (talk) 16:08, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I actually asked NOT to open a new tab. Trigenibinion (talk) 16:16, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
D'oh! I've clearly been reading too many wishes. Still, it's unclear exactly what problems you'd like ReFill to solve beyond UX improvements. Given your other submission re: ProveIt, it sounds like there are some underlying challenges or limitations to how citations work on Wikipedia.. JWheeler-WMF (talk) 16:33, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. I'm not sure if this is what Trigenibinion is going for (this might be a new wish), but see w:WP:AGCR. * Pppery * it has begun 16:54, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The main problem with reFill is that it does not handle PDFs. Trigenibinion (talk) 17:25, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
