@Selsharbaty (WMF): hello,

Within the section Brand/typography#Source Serif Pro, the link shared Source Serif Pro is broken.

It seems the font has been renamed Source Serif 4.

To compare visuals, compare Brand/typography#Source Serif Pro vs Source Serif 4 > The sum of all knowledge.

I encourage to correct this section asap with the updated link. Hugo en résidence (talk) 10:24, 30 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Hugo en résidence! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We are currently working on a solution to the discontinued typeface. I will go ahead and remove the broken link to download Source Serif Pro on the portal for now. Unfortunately we can't replace it with Source Serif 4 unless/until it is adopted as a typeface for our brand. --Selsharbaty (WMF) (talk) 18:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Selsharbaty (WMF):, having done a side by side comparison between Source Serif 4 > The sum of all knowledge (scroll down) and your early screenshot of Source Sherif Pro... from what I observe the font is still there, the two visuals appear to be the same: « Source Sherif Pro » was just renamed into « Source Sherif 4 » on fonts.google.com . An acknowledgement of the renaming and update of the Brand/typography wikipage and we are good to go. Hugo en résidence (talk) 16:40, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, « In 2021, a new release added optical sizes; the name "Pro" was dropped at this point. » More explanations thre : section ¶Where is Source Serif Pro?. Hugo en résidence (talk) 16:50, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Hugo en résidence thanks for starting this conversation. In fact, based on our research, we found the new typeface, Source Serif 4, to have some improvements to the old one. While the two may look close to each other but with deeper analysis, there are some improvements to the font size, weight and readability. In addition, using a continued typeface gives more support to our designers when using the font in designs that my require adapting the font to their design. Based on that, we have updated the guidelines to include the new typeface and have notified our staff and affiliates that use our branded material so that they can find and use the new typeface. Thanks so much for starting this conversation which led to this nice change! Selsharbaty (WMF) (talk) 08:04, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
