This is the annual report for the Sudan Wikimedia User Group " SUD" covering the period June 2022 to September 2023.

June 2022

Wikimedia Sudan Community had an online brainstorming meeting with the coordinator of the Wikimena Nanour 2022 conference on the Google Meet platform

Wikimedia Sudan organized during the month of June (3) group editing sessions with the participation of Sudanese community members of regarding the Africa Wiki Challenge AWC. The sessions were performed with in-peron meeting and lasted for several months.

The members participated through the editing sessions in adding and developing articles about Sudanese culture.

August 2022

The user group advertised for attending video conferencing the Wikimania 2022 conference in Khartoum city for the days of the conference 11-14 August 2022

Advertisements were done through the community social media group channels (Whatsapp, telegram and facebook)

the selection were performed with google forms, the event photos were uploaded on wikimedia commons the gathering were held for three days [[1]]

the user group received gift package from the Wikimania 2022 team, which was the Swedish Stroop wafles ( Stroopwafels at Wikimania Sudan 2022)

the group member Hassoon created a video about the Sudanese user group and its activities [[2]]

September 2022

The group members continues the AWC in-person meeting and the follow-up in the dashboard.

Total of 25 articles were created and 25 Participants were involved.

Our Community September statistics were very promising as our members were actively contributing in Sudan Wiki Challenge - September.

With the support of the Challenge list of articles to be developed and edited was developed and shared with the community member through our Whatsapp Group.

October 2022

Our Community members Maram, Ola, Fatima and Hassoon Represented Sudan Community a Wiki Arabia 2022 for the first time conference.

November 2022

Sudan Wikimedia Community member for the first time represented the community in the Regional conference Wiki Indaba 2022, Hassoon was able to make steps towards building the network for our community at the conference. The conference was held during ‎‏‎‏ 4th to 6th November 202 in Kigali Rwanda. The community participated in the ISA Wiki Loves Africa 2022 tool. The monthly Sudan Wiki Challenge continued in November and this is the dashboard [[4]] follow-up.

December 2022

The monthly edit-a-thon session was held on Saturday December 3rd in the African center of Science. Dashboard [[5]] follow-up. on Saturday 17th December, the Wikimedia Sudan user group held a workshop discussing the group annual plan 2023-2024 that focuses on enriching the Sudanese content.[[6]]

January 2023

Group meeting today with the Sudan Library and the Library of African and Asian studies institute at the University of Khartoum in order to prepare for the Wikisource Free Library project, [[7]] The monthly edit-a-thon session was continued online on the dashboard [[Sudan Wiki Challenge - January [[8]]

The community is advertising to a photographers workshop on March [[9]]

Selection of the workshop participants on March 2nd.[[11]] The community has ended on 11th of the month the wiki loves Sudan workshop that trained 17 photographers as a part of the community's, the training was on wikimedia commons project, a photowalk to Sudan Animal Rescue Park and an upload and edit a thon session were the article regarding the article Animal rescue park were created [[12]] The photos on wkimedia commons and the post on facebook [[13]] and a vedio to the photowalk was created by the photographers [[14]]

The Community has performed on 15th March an one day lecture in Napata College in Bahri Kafori, the lecture was about wikimedia foundation and its different projects in Sudan, especially Wikipedia . The lecture was performed with participation of the college employees and with the help of the newly joined member Abubakar Mohammed Elsiddig [[15]]

On the 29th of March the community organized a photo Walk as part of the activities of Wiki Loves Africa 2023 The theme of this year's competition is climate and weather, and the photography walk was in Tuti Island and the Nile River.[[16]]

April 2023

The community organized on April 5th Edit-a-thon and photo uploading session as part of the activities of Wiki Loves Africa 2023, which this year covers the topic of weather and climate. All photographers and those interested in environmental issues were invited to participate in this Wiki Loves Africa 2023 competition. [[18]] Two members of the community won the first palce Motasim Almahdi [[19]] and second place Zain Alabideen [[20]] in the competition of ISA tool on the Wiki Loves Africa 2023

on the 10th of the month Twist Channel hosted, through its program Yalla Shabab in Khartoum, members of Wikimedia Sudan, Hassan Hassoon and Maram Ali, to talk about Wikimedia and its activities, as well as how young people can take advantage of the opportunities available on the Internet. [[21]]

The community in Nyala city South Darfur state organized an Edit-a-thon and photo uploading session on the 10th of April as part of the activities of Wiki Loves Africa 2023, which this year covers the topic of weather and climate, and invited photographers and those interested in environmental issues to participate in this year's competition. [[22]]

The War started on the 15th of April and the community could not perform further activity for several months due to the non safe situations of the members.

September 2023

The community member photographer Mohammed Osman, was winner in the third place in the annual Wiki Loves Africa 2023 international photography competition.[[23]] The community organized training workshops for new users in the city of Al-Managil in Al-Jazeera State. The workshop included an introduction to Wikipedia and the sister projects that Wikimedia works on, the basics of editing in Wikipedia and WikiCommons, intellectual property rights, and creative commons.[[24]]
