- Personal info: (English)Dear all,
My dear fellow Wikimedian friends,
Warm greetings from Urdu, Hindi and English Wikipedia(s) and Wikimedia Commons!
My name is Muzammil and I come from India. I speak both Urdu and Hindi at the native level. I am comfortable with English - both written and oral. I’ve been a registered active Wikimedian for over six years now (starting 2011). As I look back, some of my initial contributions were on Hindi Wikipedia, mainly on AIDS Control Agencies in India. I later contributed to a wide range of topics, mostly on Urdu and Hindi Wikipedias, followed by English. I did a lot of maintenance work on Commons and soon became a filemover and rollbacker there. In fighting vandalism here, I reported many sockpuppet accounts. I rose to Bureaucrat position on Urdu Wikipedia and Reviewer positions on Hindi and English Wikipedia(s).I have a total of close to 68,000 edits on all Wikimedia projects put together.
As a result of my efforts since 2012, I am glad that the first Hindi Wiki Sammelan (Meet/Conference) became a reality in 2015. I also hope to hold a similar events for Urdu Wikipedia. More recently, I represented Hindi wikipedia at Fourth International Hindi Conference in january 2017.
Over the last 4 years, I have also transformed myself into a “Wikimedia Researcher” - in the sense that I survey, study and write blogposts on leading Wikipedians, communities and events. I have so far written blogposts on English, Sanskrit, Esperanto, Urdu, Hindi, Maithili, Doteli, Ido, Punjabi, Western Punjabi and Ido Wikipedia(s)/ Wikipedian(s). I proactively worked with Maithili Wikipedians in getting their project out of incubator and became the admin of the mailing list in the process.
My main objective in asking for steward rights is to address Steward requests, fight cross-Wiki spams and to counter vandalism. Since I am comfortable with Latin, Perso-Arabic & Devanagri Scripts, I am ready to work with diverse communities across the world (as indicated in my research interests). I am interested in extending a helping hand to emerging as well as established communities. During the past few years I've greatly benefitted from in-person meeting with some of the incumbent stewards, knowing their areas of works and their focus. In line with this experience as well as the background information, I feel that I will be able to justifiably discharge my duties as a Steward.
Umpteen thanks for your consideration!! - Questions: See Stewards/Elections 2017/Questions#Hindustanilanguage
