Mucked up an abuse filter

Just a note that I mucked up an abuse filter, so we had a period of time when there were false positives by some anonymous edits and newer editors where we were having some posts disallowed. Fixed now, my apologies for not catching this a little earlier.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:02, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Disruption caused by disclosure of steward correspondence on tr.wiki

Hey folks, Turkish Wikipedia admin over here. Today, a comment was posted on tr.wiki by a user (Nanahuatl) who was blocked just over two weeks ago by an admin. The said user had previously appealed their block, which was upheld per our local appeals process, which essentially involves a two-week vote open to all tr.wiki admins (disclosure: I was the one to start the appeals process on his behalf, but then supported the block). Even a brief inspection of the appeal page will reveal that this was a divisive, exhausting process for our community.

Now, this user has posted a long message on their talk page, giving details of correspondence with an unnamed steward. The post attributes some very inflammatory quotes to that particular steward, including advice on how to overturn the tr.wiki decision, explicit disapproval of tr.wiki admins and the tr.wiki process. This steward apparently even said "This is Wikipedia, not the Taliban". I can gather that this was a private conversation between these two individuals and was in all likelihood posted without the consent of the steward.

I am sure that all of you are well aware that stewards or Meta Wiki do not constitute an appeals court, or indeed, an advice line for individuals blocked for their disruptive editing on local projects. Unfortunately, any further private correspondence between this user and any steward may be shared publicly and used to severely disrupt tr.wiki. For this reason, I would like to kindly ask all stewards to exercise caution and restraint if approached for comment by this individual. Please feel free to message or email me should you need more information. And for goodness's sake, please do get in touch before making any further comments -private or public- comparing local admins to the Taliban.
