Admin stats
editAny idea why are there so many more MediaWiki edits by admin in PT-WP? That is a lot more than the other Wikipedias! Jwild 21:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've noticed that as well when looking at recent changes on "MediaWiki" namespace.
- There are ~950 "pt" messages and ~450 "pt" messages which are changed from its default values (from translatewiki.net). For comparison, en.wikipedia has less than 750 and de.wikipedia less than 400 customized MediaWiki messages.
- A fair amount of these local messages are very similar to the default ones, according to these tables: at least 25% of the pt-PT messages differ by one character from its default value (Levenshtein distance equals to 1). E.g.: [1]. A lot of these messages were created just because of spelling differences between pt-PT and pt-BR, since "pt" translations from translatewiki.net aren't following Portuguese Language Orthographic Agreement of 1990 (yet). - Interesting; thanks for digging into all that. So does that mean that the majority of MW edits are likely just small spelling changes? Jwild 23:29, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- Helder is correct. I also found that the page pt:MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist is the most edited page on the MediaWiki domain (~35 edits per month, ~28% of all edits on MediaWiki namespace). On es.wiki, the same page is edited ~15 edits/month, and on fr.wiki, the number is ~13 edits/month. (all numbers were calculated based on the last 500 edits). Eliminadores
MW edit
editI am curious to know what "#MW edit" means. Initially I thought it might mean "MediaWiki editors" or something similar, but that does make too much sense considering the data presented. Thanks Spyer 16:39, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe it's Meta-Wiki? I'm not sure if Daniela or Jessie are watching this page, so I'd recommend to ask directly on their talk pages. --Tom 17:07, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- hi, Spyer! Tom is right - it is number of metawiki edits. If you click the source above the table, it takes you to the toolserver which has the data. I'll update the table on this page to make it clear. If you are finding interesting things or pulling interesting conclusions from these numbers and this research - please, please share them with us! - hi, Jwild, thanks for the reply. And of course, i'll share possible conclusions with you! -Spyer 18:11, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
