Requests for new languages/Wiktionary Malvi

main page Request for a new language edition: Wiktionary Malvi

Process-stop.svg This proposal has been rejected.
While this request has technically been rejected, in reality this is a request that has been sitting open or on hold for a long time with little evidence of a community coming together to build a project. If a community comes together in the future and makes a new request, LangCom would consider that new request without prejudice.

A committee member provided the following comment:

Content was never created on Incubator. For LangCom: StevenJ81 (talk) 17:56, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
  • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:
What Value Example / Explanation
Language code mup (SILGlottolog) A valid ISO 639-1 or 639-3 language code, like "fr", "de", "nso", ...

The region of Malvi language is called 'Malwa'. People from all the caste and religion in this area speaks Malvi as their mother tongue.

There are four dialects of this language. They are Sondwadi, Umadwadi, Radwadi and Ujjaini. Among these diacteed Ujjaini is considered as the central dialect by a sociolinguistic survey done in 2001. Hello Binoykollam,

In order to have a new project opened you need to have an active test project on incubator. You should start the Malvi Wikipedia and/or the Malvi Wiktionary before the project can be created.

However, there is already a "Rajasthani" Wikipedia, and Malvi is a sub-language/dialect of Rajasthani. (correct me if I'm wrong). You can also start a Rajasthani Wiktionary if you would like to. If you have any questions, please ask them. πr2 (tc) 17:44, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
