Applications-system.svg This language has been verified as eligible.
The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page.

Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval.

If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.

  • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

I'd like to start the Ukrainian Wikiversity or help in starting it.

  • I think that Wikiversity must have each top20 wiki. As Ukrainian is 16th in number of pages so I vote in favour of this idea. Klepkoilla
  • Ukrainian Wikipedia has enough articles and portals to start many subjects in the Wikiversity in Ukrainian. Krystofer
  • Ukrainian Wikipedia also has enough users to support the portal :-) Bro.Sergiy 23:13, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
  • Support: per above--Andrijko Z. 12:12, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
  • Support. --Bolo1910 (talk) 14:51, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
  • We have not enougth users to start this project, existing users make all possible to improve and enlarge uk.wikipedia. I think better to do few things better then many things worser. --Igor Yalovecky
  • Support - I want to share my knowledge with people.--JTs (talk) 13:16, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Support - In case of COVID19 there are a lot of people looking for online education. Math and cybersecurity knowledge I would like to share. --Ipadm (talk) 14:29, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Other discussionEdit

  • Could you please specify which kind of educational work you're going to conduct there?--Microcell 14:43, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Wikiversity will organize the knowledge we have in Ukrainian Wiki so they will be accessible for more systematic study. For instance we have more than 10 000 articles about biology. We can organize them in a progressive order to teach biology in Wikiversity: Lets say we can teach Botanics in a evolutionary progress (starting from an ancestral forms and going on towards derived forms). In case of Biophysics we can start with biophysical methods, then go on to the Biophysics of cells, then move on to the biophysics of organs (muscles, intestine) and finish with the biophysics of complex systems. We also have have a wikiproject:School in progress. Krystofer
Haven't you thought of contributing to the Ukrainian Wikibooks with this material? It seems to fall under its scope, with a significant part of the project's content being represented in the form exactly like you've described it above, e.g. divided into separate classes. This can solve the problem of providing learning materials, especially given that Wikibooks lack biological entries for now. --Microcell 17:02, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
  • Anyway Ukrainian Wikiversity cannot be created unless there is any significant activity. For example, the materials mentioned above should be moved from ukwiki to betawikiversity:Portal:Школа, where the structure is already completed. If the project grows and gets significant content, it should be created — NickK 21:58, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
У будь-якому разі Віківерситет не створять без значної активності. Наприклад, вищезазначені матеріали з Вікіпедії слід перенести до betawikiversity:Portal:Школа, де вже є готова структураNickK 21:58, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
  • And what is the difference between wikiversity and wikibooks? Bunyk 20:06, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
The same as between book and university (school) Krystofer

The project is eligible, please continue with localizing MediaWiki and adding content to the test project. --Millosh 05:06, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Application of the data from Ukrainian wiki for self-education.Edit

  • Hi. I would like to draw your attention that the present articles in Ukrainian wiki in general are good, but lack the integrity and well structured system. Not so many specialist in their own area of expertise are involved in the wiki development (no offense, because the same you can say about English and French wiki as well -- quantity does not mean quality). I'm not sure how many experienced professors are involved in the project to create a presentation or lecture on some subject simultaneously for readers of different levels. For this you need to have some articles already prepared for a profound reading. In my opinion even the English wiki is not ready for this. Therefore, I'm sure that students and people with some particular interest will use Ukrainian (or other language) wiki for self-education, but definitely they will need some additional literature and to study in a real university to obtain a complete system of knowledge.
