  • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Settings
Project name "Wikisource" in your language
Project namespace usually the same as the project name
Project talk namespace "Wikisource talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace)
Enable uploads no Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons.
If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin").
Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons.
Optional settings
Project logo This needs to be an SVG image (instructions for logo creation).
Default project timezone Continent/City "Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones)
Additional namespaces For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk".
Additional settings Anything else that should be set

Arguments in favour edit

  • The Volapük Wikisource (currently hosted in the multilingual Wikisource; see above link) already has over 550 texts, and it has been growing steadily. There are many links with the (already extant) Volapük wikipedia (for one example, see the literature list at vo:Johann Schmidt#Lautots e tradutods literatik, which makes the two projects well integrated. Although I am the only contributor to the Volapük part of the multilingual wikisource, other users have urged me to request a specific subdomain (see e.g. here, here, or here), given my own personal commitment (I would like to make the whole extant corpus of Volapük texts -- which I estimate at about 2000-3000 texts -- available on wikisource).
  • Normally a project with only one interested participant might be a bad idea, but I think this case presents an exception. Here we have an active contributor, working through one small but well-defined corpus, just readying texts for upload. As this is a proposed Wikisource, we should avoid problems of any idiosyncratic personal tilt that we might have in a one person-dominated Wikipedia. And since the size of the task is finite, this is one Wikimedia project that we might even see "completed" in the medium term.--Pharos 22:43, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - the amount of work done by this user is flabbergasting. Certainly having a central repository of original works in Volapük would be very helpful for all those interested in the language. General discussion edit

Currently 83.12% of the MediaWiki messages and 68.00% of the messages used in extensions used by the Wikimedia Foundation have been localised at Betawiki. Thanks, GerardM 07:25, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that nothing will happen until the above translations have been done. I would love to see a Volapük Wikisource, but I can't help with the translation as I don't speak Volapük. Mi estas esperantisto. :) -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 09:44, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
