Arguments in favour
- A living language, spoken by 900 000 people. Wikipedia will coordinate Lezgi speakers. --Yaroslav Blanter 19:37, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Lezgi is a widely spoken language in Daghestan and northern Azerbaijan. It has a written tradition (periodical literature and fiction). If there are the native speakers here at last, the wiki should be created as soon as possible. Slavik IVANOV 05:13, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
In fact, the Lezgi is spoken by around 700 000 native speakers, primarily in Dagestan and Azerbaijan. This page is vitally necessary.
- 'Support': Native speakers of Lezgi have the competency and willingness to contribute to this project in the long-term. Hence the Lezgi language deserves to be given the opportunity and priviledge to have its own language edition of Wikipedia along with the existing Northeast Caucasian languages such as Chechen and Ingush. --Jose77 23:36, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- There are many of local variations, subdialects of the Lezgian language, some of them are noticeable different from the standard Lezgian language. It gives problems to communicating inside the Lezgi people. So creating of Lezgi Wikipedia would be very helpful for subdialects speakers, because all articles would be written on standard Lezgian language. I'm sure, creating of the Lezgi Wikipedia would make communication among Lezgians easier. User from Dag 15:11, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Voting does not help. The localisation is complete (even more than what is required, which is very good), so you should focus on creating articles at the Incubator test project. Within some weeks/months this could be approved. SPQRobin (talk) 18:46, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

General discussion
We would welcome a review and localisation activity by mother tongue speakers for this language at Betawiki. Thanks, GerardM 06:11, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Localisation update
- Currently 27.86% of the most used MediaWiki messages have been localised. Localisation of these messages is a requirement before your request is finally assessed. This is the recent localisation activity for your language. Thanks, GerardM 12:11, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Currently 100% of the most used MediaWiki messages have been localised.--Kaiyr 09:20, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you, SPQRobin (talk) 20:50, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I submitted bug 34223, however it can take some time before it is actually created. I left local uploading enabled, but it can still be disabled if wanted. Another question, currently Lezgian falls back to English (so it shows interface messages in English when they aren't translated to Lezgian), do you want it to be changed to e.g. Russian? SPQRobin (talk) 11:58, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- It will be better if those messages that aren't translated yet are shown in Russian. Most of Lezgi-speaking Wikipedians are speaking Russian as second language. WikiNikki 14:49, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, I will set it. Also, User:Lezgistxa changed the project talk namespace from "Килигун Википедин" to "Веревирд авун Википедияр", which one is correct? The first one is requested on the bug. SPQRobin (talk) 15:18, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- New change is correct. "Килигун Википедин" means "talk with Wikipedia" - it's wrong as you see. I think you should change the bug. As for "Википедия" or "Википедиа"... just see it.--U.Steele 17:43, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi . Would like to say that the idea of the translation, the English language is not the translated message is bad I vs. leave the English texts. I translated the correct translation of the necessary texts . as well as replace the logotype of the word . ВикипедиЯ on ВикипедиА. May need for the two alphabets. Лезги/Lezgi, Thank YouLezgistxa 15:19, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hi to all. Just wanna say, that correct variant is to spell as "Википедия" and not as "Википедиа". The needed translation of system terms can be done by me, if you need my help. Just tell what should be translated with regard to the issue of approval?Migraghvi 17:28, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Regarding translation of "Wikipedia talk" - this can translated into Lezgian as "Википедия веревирд авун", if we mean "Talk about wikipedia" and as "Википедияда веревирд авун", if we mean "Talk in Wikipedia". Migraghvi 17:56, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- "talk about Wikipedia" is closest to the intended meaning. So will change it from "Килигун Википедин" to "Википедия веревирд авун" on the bug request. For the translations, I was talking about setting Russian as fallback: if an interface message is not translated to Lezgian, it would show the Russian text and not English. However, Lezgistxa opposes. SPQRobin (talk) 00:45, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think it's better to keep Russian as fallback message for most of Lezgis know Russian. So, proceed accordingly. Migraghvi 15:12, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Fallback language
- Just to get a decision for the fallback language: As SPQRobin wrote this is currently english. Only About 1% of all localisable message are currently translated at translatewiki (which is enogh for this approval). But its important to choose a language that nearly all people who can read lez can understand.
- This is important for interface message, but also for many tools. e.g my interwiki bot is using enlish edit summary, because no translation on lez is available.
- It's good if you like to translate more message, but the fallback should be also choosen correctly. There is one comment for choosing en and one ru.
- From the wiki article about that language i would suggest to use "az,ru" (first azerbaijani, and then russian, if az also not exists), but i don't know anything about the local lez-community. I would be very surprised if _most_ people there can read english better then e.g. russian. Merlissimo 16:14, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
- Note that I changed it to Russian in rev:110751 and LocalisationUpdate /should/ take that into account (maybe it works after 1.19 is deployed). SPQRobin (talk) 05:35, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- 'please do not add Russian or another language in the lezgin wiki - leave in English, for further translation there are three interpreter because the translation from the source will be moreLezgistxa 12:55, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

- To improve the futher translation process I would advise to use English, Russian languages as fallback languages. You can also add Azerbaijani language as well. I am sure, that's the best option.Migraghvi 20:54, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Should be "Википедия", not "Википедиа"!
Please take into consideration what I am proposing - write as I've shown as that is a correct version.Migraghvi 17:25, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
