The Board of Trustees and language committee have deemed that there is sufficient grounds and community to create the new language project.

The closing committee member provided the following comment:

This language is well-established, has a very wide audience, a large interested community, a unanimous discussion on Meta, and a standard code. If you are interested in editing a Kabyle Wikipedia, please contribute to the Kabyle Wikipedia test project.     • The number of speakers: According to ethnologues, there are more than 3 millions of Kabyles in Kabylia, of course if we add the diaspora living in Algeria (for example : Half of Algiers' population is Kabyle) and those livining in France, we could easily reach 5 to 7 millions.
    • The teaching: Kabyle language is taught in Kabylia as a non-compulsary language for all pupils and students. There is a special degree for this language in Algerian and French universities. It is also taught by Berber associations in France, high school students have the possibility to take a non compulsary examination in Kabyle.
    • The literature:There is a flowrishing literature in this language, books, websites, discussion forums... etc.
    • Ability to write in Kabyle: the script adopted by Berber linguists is phonetic, very easy to use and implement, even for someone who does not even speak it.
    • Test-wiki: it has been launched recently (24/11/2006 on incubator) and it already has lots of articles and a community dedicated to it; we communicate through a discussion webboard. Except one or two articles, all of our articles have at least 1500 caracters, for example this article about Isaac Newton or a very long one about this town Bgayet (9.000 characters). In about ten days we got about 30 articles and we are still contacting more people to join us, Berber teachers, linguists...etc. There's even a Kabyle political party who supports us through his website. As I am writing now, there are articles being created/edited in the incubator.

I support the Kabyle version, it's high time to take a place in the Wikipedia project with our language
