I raised this point with Stewards and was informed it might be more appropriate to raise it here.

Ukraine is linguistically divided country about 50/50 between Russian and Ukrainian in terms of preferred language though most people are competent in both. Political divisions and view on history divides largely in line with linguistic division.

This situation has resulted in one particular fraction being represented and in charge of Ukrainian Wikipedia. In my view this has resulted in leadership being unchecked and very forceful in forcing their own POV rather then sticking to NPOV. Dissenting opinions are quashed, often with bans. Many political and historical topics (for example about collaboration of certain Ukrainians with Nazi regime during WWII) are not presented from NPOV. Obviously I can say all that but as most members can not read Ukrainian and are not familiar with history of Ukraine this claims can be difficult to verify. However some senior members including bureaucrats on Ukrainian Wikipedia display information which is very likely to be offensive to Eastern Ukrainians – example of which is a hate poem that I consider racist (translated below). This is easy for others, including those not familiar with the language, to verify.

Dissenting opinions are often readily punished with lifetime bans as was the case with me with no prospect of arbitration as all access to Ukrainian Wikipedia is removed and in any case as such actions are often perpetrated by arbitrators in the first instance. For example administrator, bureaucrat and arbitrator Yakudza headline quote on his page is not about mutual respect or help – it is about having no hesitation to show doors to people – that is his open declaration of his willingness and desire to ban people. He did just that with me, I believe for no sufficient reason.

In the light of this I would like to draw attention to the fact that some smaller Wikis can be usurped by a particular political/ethnic fraction resulting in dictatorial local leadership and abandonment of many Wikipedia principles including presenting from NPOV.

Therefore I think there is need to consider what mechanisms could be in place to ensure all Wikipedias adhere to Wikipedia principles and in particular are not overrun by a particular political fraction.Oxy20 (talk) 12:41, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The offensive poem on bureaucrat Gutsul profile page reads along the lines (translated from Ukrainian to English):

You abandoned your language.

You abandoned your language. The soil will not bear any fruits for you. Green branches of trees will die if you touch them. (Implication that you are so taimeted, dirty and cursed that whatever you touch dies)

You abandoned your language. Shame will meet you on a narrow road. Sadness will fall onto you just like snow and you will not be able to pass it to anyone else. (Cursing, and by that I mean wishing a missfotune rather then swearing)

You abandoned your language. You now have neither family nor nation. You will seek respect of foreigners – but to no avail as they will lough at you. (Some more cursing and expression of disrespect for foreigners and those who associate with them.) Oxy20 (talk) 12:41, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
