I have drafted a policy for global blocks and bans, distinguishing both from global locking. The draft combines some long-standing ideas about how global blocks should work once they are possible in MediaWiki, and discussions about how to come to cross-project consensus about global bans. I would like to propose it soon for acceptance as a Meta policy; please review and comment. I am also looking into what remains to be done to make globalblocking work for named accounts. –SJ talk | translate 10:56, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I think before we can make a global ban policy we need the long proposed global arbcom to work such requests. So before we go into the discussion about this policy draft, I would suggest we first finish the GRC proposal and create that body. --თოგო (D) 11:03, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- That is a fair point. That proposal has also been cleaned up a bit recently -- see Requests for comment/Global requests committee –SJ talk | translate 14:42, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
