This image is used in many user pages (see). Use it to illustrate articles may be correct, but use it on user pages is discriminatory. Should not there be a rule prohibiting in all projects, this type of images in user pages? Ferbr1 23:13, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We have currently or in the past, on some projects, userspace userboxes expressing dislike of various groups (most notably homosexuals, various political parties, and people of various ethnic backgrounds). I'd find an anti-Israeli userbox or similar userpage sentiment distasteful, but the specifics of the civility policy should be set by local communities, not set at Meta by a tiny subset of the userbase and imposed on the projects. If we're going to have a minimal civility policy for universal application, I can think of more immediate concerns. On Meta, however, I think it would be fairly clear that this sort of behavior (and indeed, any hateful and racially-biased speech) would be considered disruptive and dealt with appropriately. Images like these should be deleted. They promote and support hate, racism, rejection and they have some bitter taste of propaganda (as well as the LGBT opposition views uploads). This kind of hate logos are against the rules of Wikimedia Commons, even the deletion requests were rejected or take too long :-( --Saviour1981 19:05, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Various images and symbols of hate groups (is this a "group" or just a "movement" of some sort, anyway?) have utility in identifying the symbol in articles relevant to that group. We have articles on the KKK and Nazis, for instance, and there are clear lessons that humanity can learn from those articles. On the other hand...well, it's not a very imaginative symbol, is it?
