PhilWiki Community/Reports/2015 Report

This page is the Report of PhilWiki Community for the year 2015. It includes the activities of the organization from June 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015.

The Philippine Wikimedia Community User Group or PhilWiki Community was formed on 1 June 2015 to served as an organization of unaffiliated Wikipedians in the Philippines. The Affiliate Committee of Wikimedia Foundation provisionally approved the Community on 17 October 2015 for three months.

June

• June 1 - Pioneering editors of Bikol Wikipeda namely Filipinayzd, Geopoet and Steven*fung informally formed a user group that will apply for an Wikimedia affiliate recognition.

July

• July 5 - Individuals, Wikipedians and volunteers a-like, started to signify their intention to join the group.
• July 31 - By the end of the month, seven (7) more signed up in the group including individuals based in Morocco, India, and Manila, Davao City, Naga and Camarines Sur, Philippines.

September

• September 8 - Two (2) more individuals signed up in the group.

October

• October 17 - The Affiliate Committee of Wikimedia Foundation provisionally approved the application of the Community for three months.

November

• November 21 - Color Splash Run for Free Knowledge, the supposed first project of the Community in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Canaman, was cancelled due to conflict on schedule of volunteers who will facilitate the activity. The reproduction of the DVDs was funded by Jojit fb, Ivyoutiful and Filipinayzd.
• November 26 and 28 - 2015 Waray Wikimedia Forums was held at Tacloban City and Palo, Leyte, respectively. This activity was part of the series of Waray Wikimedia events organized by JinJian, Jojit fb and Billie bb.
• November 28 - Wikipedia Takes Naga exhibit was held during the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Tomas Arejola at Fish Cove, Abella St., Naga City, Camarines Sur. The activity was part of the promotion of Wikipedia Takes Rinconada. It was organized by Ringer, Filipinayzd and Maffeth.opiana.

December

• December 1 - 3rd Waray Wikipedia Edit-a-thon was held at Catbalogan, Samar.
• December 2 - 4th Waray Wikipedia Edit-a-thon was held at Catarman, Northern Samar.
• December 4 - Offline Wikipedia DVD Distribution was held at Minalabac Central School, Minalabac, Camarines Sur. It was facilitated by Filipinayzd. The DVDs were supposed to be distributed in Canaman, Camarines Sur for the Color Splash Run for Free Knowledge that was cancelled.
• December 19 - Wikipedia Takes Rinconada was launched in Iriga City, Camarines Sur. The activity was attended by Filipinayzd, Ringer, Bertbites and Geopoet who were members of the project team.
