Why is this in the Meta namespace? --MF-W 18:43, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- This is in the Meta namespace because it is designed to be imported and used in the local Project space of whatever project it's used on. Having it in the Project space on Meta means that it will work the same here as it does after being imported to the local Project space on another wiki.--Sage Ross (WMF) (talk) 18:55, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- It's possible to choose a different namespace when importing. --MF-W 19:06, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, but some of the templates are namespace specific, and I wanted to set it up in a way that would be less likely to break things either when I imported to Meta from English Wikipedia, or when others import from Meta to other Wikipedias.--Sage Ross (WMF) (talk) 12:50, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- This, however, doesn't make it any less clear. I suggest using the Help namespace, that works everywhere as well. --Nemo 17:29, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
- I'm sure with that it would be possible to get it working in the Help namespace, but currently it's set up to assume that it's in the Project namespace. Between recoding it to be completely namespace-agnostic and moving all of the pages that are already here, I don't see significant benefit that would make it worth all that. Is there an important reason that it should not be in this namespace?--Sage Ross (WMF) (talk) 15:11, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. For instance, this namespace is not in default search. --Nemo 14:10, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- This really doesn't belong in the Meta namespace, especially as it is Wikipedia-specific, but I trust your judgement. PiRSquared17 (talk) 21:16, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- PiRSquared17: Although the training contents are Wikipedia-specific, the template infrastructure is not. It's in the Meta namespace because this is the Project space, which corresponds to the place it does belong on other wikis that import it. Even the content, while Wikipedia-specific as written, can be useful for other projects as well as a starting point. For example, wn:Wikinews:Education has content adapted from this. The templates are also being used on Meta for the WikiMetrics training: Meta:Training/Wiki Metrics. I realize that this isn't the ideal namespace in the context of Meta, but I don't think the benefits of trying to move it and make sure it all still works would justify the amount of work that would take.--Sage Ross (WMF) (talk) 15:00, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

Historical?
editShould this be marked historical and a link provided to the Education Project dashboard instead? The dashboard materials are much better in my view... Jytdog (talk) 19:23, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
