I maintain multilingual projects, and wish to be able to coordinate translating their pages. The pages include projects linked to AvoinGLAM, Hack4OpenGLAM, and future multilingual resources for GLAM. –Susanna Ånäs (Susannaanas) 🦜 08:35, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, could you please add translation markup to a page, such as Hack4OpenGLAM, to demonstrate your knowledge of the tools? Wrapping the entire page in <translate /> tags is not sufficient; you need to tag specific parts such as file captions or table cells individually or else translation will not be fun. Translation variables (tvars) would help a lot as well. Thanks, ~~~~

I have tagged the content in more detail. I followed a tutorial, and asked for help. I am a beginner in this. I was not able to find instructions on managing galleries, but I made educated guesses. Cheers, Susanna Ånäs (Susannaanas) 🦜 13:42, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, the markup looks pretty good already. I've made an additional fix to the categories. Ideally, links should be wrapped into translation variables, like this: [https://summit.creativecommons.org/hack4openglam-dashboard/#/ '''Hack4OpenGLAM''']; this way, they can be entered by simply using "$1" etc. in translations. Note that the tvar names are specific to translation units, not the whole page, so you can use "1" in multiple paragraphs. ~~~~

Thank you, really useful advice! If that's of any help, I have had translation admin privileges on Commons, although I have not made much use of it. Susanna Ånäs (Susannaanas) 🦜 15:52, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if this could be accepted already? We have a translation workshop in an hour's time, and it would be valuable to work with these translations. Kind regards, Susanna Ånäs (Susannaanas) 🦜 12:07, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
