Hello
This is a request for temporary adminship for two months in order to use the CentralNotice on Wikipedia in French. I only intend to use the admin rights for the CentralNotice, and nothing else. This request is suported by the "Help and Welcoming Project". We wish to create a banner campaign to help readers to discover Wikipedia. We hope readers will both understand better Wikipedia and start editing.
This campaign was discussed and approved by the community though a vote (fr:Wikipédia:Sondage/Campagne d'information à destination des lecteurs): 42 voters, 86% approval, no strong opposition (mainly a matter of date). Comments showed a strong support to this project.
Finally, I am a member of the "Help and Welcoming Project", and I have the sysop flag on fr.WP since June 2012 (proof, my election).
Ending 25 February 2013 16:27 UTC
- Couldn't this be done locally using Sitenotice? CentralNotice is used for global purposes mainly. Savhñ 16:30, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Can we ? We asked, and everybody told us to use the Central notice :/ Trizek from FR 16:38, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The problem is to include a "close button" to the banner. This is possible with the CentralNotice (through JavaScript), but is it possible using the Sitenotice/Anonnotice? Binabik155 (talk) 16:53, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The DismissableSiteNotice extension is installed on all Wikimedia projects. You can see the hide button on en.quote or en.wikt (which have permanent sitenotices), for instance. Anyway, the CentralNotice can be enabled by any other sysop if you prepare the code, see CentralNotice/Usage_guidelines. --Nemo 21:15, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Good to know. So I think I can cancel this request, right? Binabik155 (talk) 12:00, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- If you think you can achieve the same result by using SiteNotice@frwiki and no longer need meta-admin access we can close it. Best regards. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:29, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I think Binabik155 wants to withdraw the request, because it can be done locally on fr.wikipedia.org. Of course, you can always ask here if you need help setting up the SiteNotice. Cdlt, πr2 (t • c) 21:24, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
