Hello, I am requesting temporary sysop access here for a term of 90 days, to permit me to setup and run a protected section on the foundation-l summaries, it would need to be protected for quite obvious reasons. This is per discussion on Foundation-l. This is temporary, because I do not have 100 edits here, and I do not have a sysop bit on another project. If trust is an issue, and while this may be a small consolation I am granted "op" access to a wide multitude of the WMF channels. Thanks in advance, Somitho 09:03, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Admittedly, I don't have too much experience working on meta, at this point. This does seem like an unusual request, there may be another preferred method to handle this -- but, for what it's worth, I generally trust Soms, and I've never known him to do anything that would suggest I shouldn't. I'd vouch for him. Luna-San 09:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, could you give some details about what you would like to do? What about temporarily unprotecting the pages? guillom 10:03, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll be creating a weekly summary of foundation-l and posting it on here and linking the list to it. Temporarily unprotecting pages wouldn't work very well as I would need to create the page and then protect it, unprotecting would just be for slight modifications (spelling/grammar). - I don't understand what protected pages you want to edit. guillom 10:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I will not be editing pages as much as creating them, then protecting them. For example I could create Mailing list/Foundation-l/Summary week or date add in the summary of the weeks actions on the mailing list, and then protect it to prevent modification of the summary (excluding small gramatical tweaks) Somitho 10:14, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- So you want to revive the List Summary Service? Such summaries are not protected (and shouldn't be, I think). guillom 10:22, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Basicly, yes. If you feel they should not be protected then I will leave them be. Please consider this temp RfA closed Somitho 10:33, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
