Weather permitting, an in-person meetup(!) outdoors
Date and time: Sunday 11 July 2021 13:00—16:30
(join at any time you can, no need to stay for the whole afternoon)
Location: Lincoln's Inn Fields, opposite the Sir John Soane's museum
Coordinates: 51.51663184°, -0.11718529°
Nearest tube station is Holborn
(If the weather isn't looking suitable, we'll fall back to a Zoom call instead. I'll ping attendees if needed)
After discussing at the previous meetup, we agreed to try and have an outdoor London meetup in July, since the rule of 6 will still be in effect indoors. We settled on Lincoln's Inn Fields, which is close to our previous habitual location (the Penderel's Oak pub) and has plenty of space, and public conveniences.
(Note that this isn't the end of virtual meetups! We'll continue hosting them too, usually on the 4th Sunday of each month, for those who can't make it to London)
You can expect to meet some very keen Wikimedians, and complete newbies are also welcome, as is anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
Please invite any Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) who might be interested – spread the word!
Update
editJoseph2302, Ritchie333, Andrew Davidson, Robidy, Cielquiparle, ClemRutter: Forecast for tomorrow looks good, so we're on! I'll aim to be at the coordinates above just before 1, and will have some form of Wikipedia clothing on for those who might not recognise me otherwise. I also think we should aim to end by 4:30 to better avoid the football crowds.
I'll be bringing a few beers, cokes, and crisps/biscuits, feel free to bring anything else you might want. We checked and drinking alcohol is permitted in the park. I'm also bringing a picnic blanket, but if anyone else can bring one that would be great. And I can provide a wifi hotspot if people want to use laptops etc.
To those who aren't attending, I can totally understand. When picking this date I don't think any of us expected England to be in the final, and all that might bring. Hope to see some of you at Meetup/UK virtual/2 on 25 July, or a future IRL one! the wub "?!" 20:39, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update. Yuit and I will probably go to Chinatown for some dim sum too, as Sunday is the traditional day for that. Andrew D. (talk) 20:46, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. Timing makes sense. It's like threading a needle. At least people will still be wearing masks on public transport, mostly... Cielquiparle (talk) 22:25, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for confirming, I'm aiming to arrive around 2. Joseph2302 (talk) 23:16, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- @The wub: Any photos? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 09:04, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

- Will be good to see people in person. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:39, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
I'm free! Ritchie333 (talk) 14:53, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Sorry, got paid work now :-( Ritchie333 (talk) 11:23, 29 June 2021 (UTC)- I like Lincoln Inn's Fields and its robot lawnmower but bet that everyone will soon gravitate back to Penderel's Oak. I'll be in the area tomorrow and will check on the facilities... Andrew D. (talk) 17:10, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- I was in Pendrel's Oak on Sunday briefly. Aside from protective screens and table service only, it's pretty much as I remember it being for the last 25 years or so. Ritchie333 (talk) 11:24, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
- Put me down as a may be Robidy (talk) 12:25, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- I'm new. But I'll be there. Regardless of who is playing in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley. Cielquiparle (talk) 21:48, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

- The trains will be full of football supporters, whether they have tickets or not, so it's a "no" from me. --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 21:24, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds great but I’m avoiding public transport as much as possible. Mccapra (talk) 02:41, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Philafrenzy (talk) 10:08, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Much though I would like to be there, but with soaring COVID case numbers, plus public transport likely busy with the football that evening, better to err on the side of caution. Edwardx (talk) 13:26, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- I think not, per above, but I hope it goes well - next month should be ok. Johnbod (talk) 14:43, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Too far (quite apart from the fact that I haven't yet been on a train since March 2020). And Wimbledon men's final is on my minimal sports event TV watching list (with Boat Race, London Marathon, Grand National and a few odd exceptions like tonight's match!) Hope to see you at the next virtual meetup. Enjoy yourselves. PamD (talk) 08:11, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
