About

Indic Mini-Hackathon 2024 in Guwahati aims to bring together contributors involved with various technical spaces of Wikimedia projects such as MediaWiki core, tools, user scripts, gadgets, bots, templates etc. and also non-technical contributors such as editors, who are have good understanding various technical challenges and needs of wiki projects. This includes, but not limited, developers, maintainers, translators, designers, and technical writers.

Along with that, contributors who don't necessarily contribute to technical spaces but have good understanding of issues on wikis and can work with developers in addressing them can join too. You can come with a project in mind, join an existing project, or create something new with others. The goal of this event is to bring together technical contributors from India to resolve pending technical issues, bugs, brainstorm on tooling ideas, and foster connections between contributors.

Participation

Applications are invited from both contributors who have already been contributing to Wikimedia technical spaces such as user scripts, bots, gadgets, building templates etc. and also non-technical contributors to Wikimedia projects who have good understanding of technical challenges on wikis, and can help developers to find tasks to work and brainstorm about the solution(s) as the development takes place.

For applications who have been selected for a scholarship to attend the event, all the expenses related to participation such as travel, accommodation, food and incidentals will be covered by the organisers. More details about the specifics will be shared along with the scholarship decision email.
