Wikipedia Education Program (WEP)editThe Wikipedia Education Program's vision is to mobilize and empower the next generation of human-knowledge generators to contribute to Wikimedia projects. Students represent one of the most promising group from which to recruit new editors. They are immersed in a mindspace of learning and documenting learning. There is therefore a reasonably high identification with the community's values and endeavors. Incorporating Wikipedia in the teaching plans (even if not in formal syllabi) represents a major opportunity to create a sustainable and long-term channel to recruit new editors. How does it work?editProfessors who participate in our program will assign their students to edit Wikipedia articles as part of their coursework. Students are taught the fundamentals of Wikipedia and Wikipedia editing by Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors in their classrooms. Students are further assisted by Wikipedia Online Ambassadors who provide virtual help, over the internet. India Education Program (IEP)editWikipedia Education Program has been altered and modified to design India Education Program that will help expand Wikipedia's use as a teaching tool in Indian universities, school and other educational institutes. India Education Program DesigneditBased on the results of the Public Policy Initiative, qualitative analysis of IEP version 1.0 and quantitative analysis of IEP version 1.0, we've created a new program design for the India Education Program Pilot version 2.0.
