editThis is an interesting request. I have a couple questions:
- What kind of presentation or talk are you giving?
- Who do you expect to connect with at the conference? It looks like the conference is largely research about the Arabic language. Other similar questions come to mind: do you expect to be able to reach cultural professionals? Do you expect another audience to benefit? Is there an outreach target that will benefit from your presence?
Generally, its exciting to see GLAM work invited to international conferences, but based on the website and description of the request: its not clear what you will gain from attending. Astinson (WMF) (talk) 15:54, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- Actually, it will be a discussion circle as they want to know more about how to use GLAM for increasing the awareness about Arabic language and Increasing the Arabic content.
- This is the right place to find the culture professionals as I explained in the grant request this conference under the authority of Mohamed Ben Rashid El Maktum and the League of Arab States Mainly we will have talks with the Arab publishers association this is the one who represent the publishers associations in the whole Arab world and many other people will help us create new partnerships.
- They were very clear they want to improve the Arabic language by improving the knowledge in Arabic they completely open to all ideas and suggestions and we should take this chance.Zeinebtakouti (talk) 18:31, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Zeinebtakouti: Thanks for the clarification! Astinson (WMF) (talk) 19:38, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Request not funded
editHello Zeinebtakouti,
Thank you for this request. Although this sounds like a worthwhile context for conducting outreach, we are not able to fund your request based on the following criteria explained in the Travel and Participation Support page:
- Investment, Impact and Level of participation: Your funding request is on the high end compared to most TPS proposals, while your participation plan (engaging in a discussion group) is less robust than most TPS proposals. For this reason, we think the costs of participation are not well balanced with respect to the potential outcomes and impact. At this level of funding, we would prefer to see a formal presentation accepted at the event as well as a plan for tracking networking connections and offering them a follow-up platform after the event is over.
We welcome future requests from you that may be a better fit and wish you all the best in your future work.
Thank you once again for your interest in this program.
Best regards,
