Grants talk:TPS/farish.kty/Google IO 2016
Questions from the Participation Committee
editHello,
Your request includes a great deal of information about your professional education and accomplishments, your involvement with Google and various other activities on the internet. For the purpose of this request, however, this information is largely irrelevant to our funding decision. TPS funds active Wikimedia volunteers to participate in events in order to support and improve the Wikimedia projects. It's not clear to us from your request, as it is currently written, that your planned participation matches our criteria.
First, it is not clear that you are an active volunteer. In your request, you note that you have been a Wikipedian since 2012. However, your record of global user contributions shows that you have edited EN Wikipedia only 11 times total and Commons only 16 times total. The large majority of your edits are on Meta, with 272 edits, which are almost entirely dedicated to asking for funding. It appears these are the only 3 projects you have edited. The TPS program is intended to support active volunteers in the Wikimedia movement. Based on your global contributions history, it appears that you are not an active volunteer. Are there are other ways you are active as a volunteer that aren't represented in the global user history for this username?
Second, it's not clear that you work will support existing Wikimedia projects. We do not fund work in support of third party applications or wikis, even if they use our software. Can you please revise your request to focus on only those portions of your participation that are relevant to this criteria?
Thank you for your interest in our program.

Request not funded
editDear farish.kty,
We cannot fund your request based on the information provided in your application alone. Since we have not heard back from you in response to our questions posted above, the committee has opted to decline your request. We welcome future requests from you that may be a better fit and wish you all the best in your future work.
Thank you once again for your interest in this program.
Best regards, Marti (WMF) (talk) 16:41, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
