Question about your participation
editHi, Leigh! Thanks for the request. We are also excited about the opportunity; however, we could not verify your presentation from the conference program. Would you please let us know when / what you are presenting if this presentation is confirmed? We did find your workshop on the program already. Thanks Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 22:41, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- The abstract for the presentation part is as follows While the world may know and have used Wikipedia, very few still know exactly how the encyclopedia develops. Even fewer know how Wikipedia (through the Wikimedia Foundation) can help more traditional institutions of knowledge such as libraries with their missions, especially with dissemination and educational research projects. For Latin American libraries, Wikipedia and its related projects are a very cost effective way to gain worldwide exposure of both the institution and information about host countries as the Foundation is looking not for money, but rather collaborative partners. This presentation will give an overview of the vast, international network of cultural, governmental and cultural institutions, along with individuals and organizations that make up the “wiki-world” and how they collaborate with Wikipedia and each other. The opportunities to participate vary widely, so examples of projects from several institutions such as the British Library and Tec de Monterrey- Campus Ciudad de México will also be included. If you need more than this, please let me know.Thelmadatter (talk) 01:56, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
