Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Wiki Loves Monuments Uganda 2017/Report

Comments and questions edit

Hello Erinamukuta and team! Thank you for your patience in our review of your project. It's exciting to see this contest unfold and to learn about your experience and challenges in organizing it from start to finish, and we look forward to see how it has evolved or developed your strategies for organizing Wiki Loves Monuments Uganda 2018 and other contests. Before closing out this grant report, I had a few questions:

  1. Is there a link or category on Commons where we can follow the WLM results? Where could we find the winning contributions?
  2. Although more than a year has passed since the contest, have you observed any of media added onto articles, or improvements or increased activity on article edits since then?
  3. Have you been able to follow-up with the participants after the contest or noted any returning contributors?
  4. You mentioned challenges in reaching people with authority over some national monuments; have you been able to connect with local authorities or developed ways to collaborate on releasing content to the Wikimedia projects? What tools or support would you like to have in the future to interact with them or to encourage more contributors?

I also have some questions in regards to the expenses from this grant, based on the expense documentation sent to us:

  • In the expense documentation sent to us, the receipts for food added up to 600,000 UGX, while 400,000 UGX is noted in the report.
  • Internet data: we have only 450,000 UGX, while 585,395 is listed
  • Accommodations: we have only one receipt for 200,000 UGX on file
  • Prizes: we noted only one receipt in the amount of 2,100,000 UGX, which does not match the total amount listed (2,285,394 UGX)

I have misread or misunderstood these receipts, please let me know. We would appreciate further details or clarifications about the calculations made on these expenses before closing out this grant. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for your work and contributions to the movement in Uganda, and for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments!

Report accepted with comments edit

Hi Erinamukuta. Thank you for the reply. We hope you can identify the returning contributors to the 2018 contest and follow-up with them in the future to work with or support them in future projects or navigating Wikimedia-related policies. It's great to hear that they returned, and I wonder if this would encourage an opportunity for developing contributors to the movement. If you are able to provide any further data regarding the articles improved or photos used on Wikimedia projects after the contest ended, we would like to learn more about them!

If you could kindly update the actual expenses in your report to reflect the updated total amount spent, we would be able to more accurately match and reconcile them with the receipts you submitted to close out this grant. Once you have done so, please write to rapidgrants@ to let us know.

Thank you for your efforts! All the best, Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 22:26, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
