Hello Temilolub.52021, thanks for submitting this Rapid Fund request. I have a few questions about after my initial review of the application:

  • The goal of your project is not clear for me. Could you clarify it? What's your target Wikimedia project for the series of trainings?
  • You have mentioned that you would organize the training sessions. Do you also plan to lead these trainings? If yes, then how would you do it?
  • Please provide a more detailed breakdown for 'Resources' and 'Personnel' expenses.
  • How did you learn about Wikimedia Foundation Funds and what's your motivation in running these events?
  • In the Impact section, please complete the Number of articles created or improved and repeat participants.
  • Hello AKibombo and AfricanLibrarian, thanks for your willingness to support this project. Could you please confirm that you will be supporting Temilolub.52021 in running and leading all training sessions?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:30, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I. Goal: To organise a Wikipedia for Community Outreach Programme at the Department of LARIS, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.

To train undergraduate of LARIS, University of Ibadan on how to edit the English Wikipedia, add local contents, and images on Wikipedia projects such as the WIKI Commons

II. Technology: There is a poor availability of technological tools or gadgets and internet facilities such as computer, scanners, photocopiers, bandwidth, Wifi, Local Area Networks LAN and other Internet Protocols IP requirements in the Department as such most of the tools will be out-sourced.

III. Materials and Information Resources: There is inadequate materials and information resources to support the Wiki training events. There would be adequate provision for the event schedule and training manuals, posters, e-flyers, banners etc to support the programme.

IV. Personnel/Expertise: There are very few IT personnel or expertise that exist in the LARIS Department. Hence, the need to engage 3 technical person and 5 wikipedians or 2 other experienced members and resource persons from the local Wikimedia community or User Group Affiliate to support the training.

2. Leading the training: Yes, i will be leading the training with the support of the 2 resources persons and other of my team members including the technical support personnels to be engaged for the training.

3. I learnt about Wikipedia Foundation Funds from my participation at the WikiAfLibs Cohorts 1 & 2 trainings. I am motivated to run this event to create wider awareness about the activities of the Wikimedia Foundation especially in promoting scholarships among African Libraries and Library Schools and equipping 21st century Librarians with the requisite Digital Literacy skills among others.
