Comments from WMF edit

Hello Nilamkarn, thank you for submitting this comprehensive request. We are excited that you are running a month-long campaign in Nepal to address gender gap in the Wikimedia projects. I have reviewed your proposal and have the following comments.

  • I understand that the campaign will start on March 1, but I have to request to push back your grant start date - March 1 - by roughly one week to allow time for grant processing. Could you please update the start date on the proposal page?
  • Are you a member of the Maithili Wikimedians User Group or organizing this event on behalf of the User Group?
  • From your past experience I can see that you have previously completed a similar project. Could you please share with us what you will do differently this time to ensure an even more successful event?

Thank you again for organizing this amazing project in Nepal! Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 15:36, 27 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi DSaroyan (WMF), thanks for the appreciation and comments regarding my grant request.
  • The online edit-a-thon was started on March 1, which I have mentioned in proposal. We are going to organize an event on 8th March and other offline events will be organized after mid March or last weekend of March, so IMO it will not affect the grant start date. If you still ask me to push the date I am ok with it.
  • I am member of Maithili Wikimedians User Group and coordinator of the Women Edit-a-thon event.
  • This time my target group are students where my focus is to spread the importance of Wikipedia in Education for them and In Online Edit-a-thon, I am expecting more user participation to create and improve articles related to Women. I am also planning to collaborate with women groups to aware them about Wikipedia in Women's Day event. Thanks--Nilamkarn (talk) 16:05, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Nilamkarn, thanks for your responses!
  • The reason I asked you to push back the start date of the grant was that we cannot fund Rapid Grants retroactively. We can only fund grants with the start date in the future. Therefore, please push back the start date by one week.
  • Since you and other leaders involved in this project are from the Maithili Wikimedians User Group, I kindly ask you to change the grant type to "Group", and add the User Group name to the probox, so that this grant will be offered to the User Group.
Thank you! DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 17:24, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi DSaroyan (WMF), I have changed the project start date to March 8, 2020 and changed the grant type to group. Thanks--Nilamkarn (talk) 15:23, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Nilamkarn: Hi Nilam, thanks for your responses above. I have just made a small change to the grant type from group to organization. We use the term "group" to refer to when multiple individuals who are independent from a user group are receiving funding for a grant proposal, and "organization" to refer to when the funding is being sent to an organizational account or to an individual who maintains an account associated with organizational activities.
