Comments and Questions

  1. Congratulations on increasing participation in this event, compared to last year! Although you did not meet your goal of 100 participants, 60 still makes for a large event, and it sounds like the articles created or edited were valuable.
    • What do you think you could have done differently, or what would you do differently in the future, to help meet the participation goals you set?
  2. As you have identified, one potential challenge of edit-a-thons (especially with large numbers of people) is having editors of various skill levels. Structuring the event so that newbies can get training while experienced editors can jump into editing is a great way to ensure that everyone is engaged. Some grantees also target events to only new editors or only experienced editors; this, however, often limits the size of the events.
  3. Do you have any tips to share with other grantees for making remote participation run smoothly? Some grantees try to incorporate that into their edit-a-thons, with mixed results, so we're always looking for best practices to share!
