edit@Civvì: Hi Civvì, thanks for your report on all the events you ran related to Italian contemporary history in Milan and Torino. Here are my comments and questions:
- Thank for your note about how the success is not based on kbytes of characters added to our projects. As a result of your work, there are many students and new people who now understand how Wikipedia works generally and how to contribute to it. Familiarizing folks with our projects and teaching these important writing and research skills may not be as measurable, but it has obvious and important value. Students become more nuanced in their understanding of how articles get created, and often become more selective in the kinds of sources they use to learn. These are useful skills in general, but for students who decide to continue to edit, they are vital for content creation. Bytes added never tells the whole story, anyway. :)
- Were any photos taken at any of the events, or are there event pages online (on or off wiki) anywhere?
- Regarding the remaining funds, we can reallocate funds generally, but for large amounts of underspends, we require another grant application to be approved to make that allocation. If you like to use the remaining funds for another event, please prepare another Rapid Grant application. You can ping me when it's ready and I'll review it right away to get this allocation moved appropriately. Otherwise, please follow these instructions for returning funds to the WMF.
Once I hear from you about what you would like to do about your remaining funds, I can officially accept this report. Thanks Civvì for your work for this extensive event planning and work with students. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 18:32, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- @I JethroBT (WMF): Hi Chris, many thanks for your comments :)
- As concerns the events:
- For Milan we have pictures on Commons, a post on our website, and of course the event page on it.wiki
- For Torino we have no pictures, all the students involved were minors so we would have needed the authorization from their parents. But we have a post on our website, a post on the website of the institute and the event page on it.wiki, the Institute posted some pictures on their FB page but I can't find them :-(
- For the remaining funds I have prepared this application Grants:Project/Rapid/InFormAzionI/Discovering Vergante, it is ready but still in draft status because proposals are closed so I didn't know if I should put it in "proposed" status. Again we had to do with high school students but also local communities, local institutions and associations and again the success, imho, is not really only the amount of kbytes. Thank you :-) --Civvì (talk) 22:15, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks Civvì. I'll be reviewing this new proposal this week, but can accept this report with the understanding that the remaining funds can be reallocated to this proposal pending its approval. Take care, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 16:50, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, and I neglected to mention this in my initial comments, but you may use € 43,45 to reimburse VAT and custom duties to reimburse VAT and custom duties you incurred. The remaining € 280,05 will be reallocated to the next grant upon its approval. Thanks for this request. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 17:00, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
