Hello Amyc29, and thanks for your proposal to support four edit-a-thons over the next several months.

We will be approving this proposal, and I want to acknowledge that an important reason for the decision is because of the proposal's focus on supporting better editor diversity from Black communities, and that this work is far more important than the specific number of participants who attend your events or number of articles that may come out of the work. The proposed work to engage local community centers across multiple cities using the hybrid model for events you have described could have a high level of impact to support your community building goals. To the extent you are able, we think it would be helpful to ascertain what motivates your participants to attend your events and contribute, and whether they see themselves as being interested in contributing beyond your proposed activities and events. Then, you may be able to connect those those editors to other affiliates focused on these needs (e.g. AfroCROWD or Black Lunch Table) or other Wikimedians who they can work together with beyond these activities (or future ones you may hold!) Thanks again for your proposal, and I hope it's an exciting and productive summer for you and your team! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:05, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
